GREEN TEA

Green Tea is derived from the leaves and buds of the Camellia Sinensis Tea Plant.  It is found in Eastern Africa.  Unlike typical Black, Oolong or White teas, the production of quality Green Tea prevents the oxidation of the “good stuff” - polyphenols and flavonoids.compounds which are directly linked to antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects (American Board of Dermatology).

Green Tea polyphenols and flavonoids are outstanding anti-inflammatory, anti-carcinogenic and anti-pollutant compounds.  Applied to the skin, these ingredients help to fight free-radicals and UV damage - the number 1 cause of aging.  And its ability to assist in the production of sebum makes it a powerful ally for those fighting acne.

Green Tea polyphenols and flavonoids can now be found in many professional skincare products.  Look for them in the form of cleansers, serums, moisturizers, masques and sunscreens.  When used regularly they can assist in the management of acne, hyperpigmentation, dryness, irritation, rosacea and sun damage.   Coupled with Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid serums, green tea polyphenols can enhance skin’s absorption making it a terrific choice when fighting dryness and other signs of oxidative stress on the skin.

Drinking Green Tea has outstanding health benefits as well.  There are studies that show it can help repair skin damage caused by sun exposure and acne, atopic dermatitis, keloid-type scars and rosacea.  Additionally, since green tea naturally contains caffeine and tannins, it can help with puffy eyes especially as a cold compress.  Grandma’s tea bags on the eyes after a late night really is a thing!
