Benefits of Regular Professional Facials

I often get asked about the benefits of regular facials.  We all want our skin to look its best, so what are these benefits and how can they magnify the results of what you are doing at home for your skin.

First, Deep Cleaning - Detoxing the skin is extremely important.  This leaves a clean canvas so that other products can do their job more effectively and efficiently.  A professional skincare therapist can help you select the right cleanser for your skin type and how to correctly use it.

Exfoliation - There are two forms of exfoliation, physical and chemical and a professional esthetician can help with determining the best form for your skin type.  Many exfoliation products are only available in a professional setting.  The right form improves efficacy of your active treatment products, brightens the skin, unclogs pores, prevents breakouts and reduces poor cell turnover, hyperpigmentation, dryness, laxity and pore size.

Nourishment - This is the “dermal layering” portion of a facial, in which “food” for your skin is professionally selected to address your skin concerns, and move you toward achieving your personal skin goals.  Overall health, the efficiency in the ways skin performs its job, and slowing down the aging process are all addressed through professional grade, nourishing treatment products.  It is this step in the treatment room and at home where the magic happens!

Next is Stress Relief - Yep!  Giving yourself time to experience hands-on treatment in a relaxing professional environment encourages overall health and well-being.  As part of one of the body’s eleven systems, the skin is equally enhanced and improved by stress reduction.

Professional Expertise - As a professional aesthetician, I am constantly in learning mode.  As new scientific approaches to skin health are identified, aestheticians grow their repertoire to better help their clients.  Facials should always be customized to meet YOUR skin needs and goals.  Skincare specialists can help determine what type of skin (oily, dry, combination, etc.), conditions needing management (acne, hyperpigmentation, reactivity, texture, etc.) and maintenance.  Like exercising regularly, eating healthy, and getting appropriate rest, the same is for skin.  Selecting the right ingredients, how to use them and consistent application directly impacts your skin health.

If you are still on the fence about whether or not regular facials are worth it, consider this.  A preventative mindset includes seeing our doctor and dentist on a regular basis, exercising regularly, eating and drinking well and protecting ourselves from danger.  Why not do the same for your skin?
